Artists >> Blackmore Tony
Tony’s Blackmore’s ‘Paperfolds’ explore the creative potentialities of numerical sequencing and systems-based rationale. When working in monochrome, each relief is created from a single sheet of polyester-based drafting film using a process of drawing, scoring and folding. Utilising the matte transluscent quality of the film, illusions of shapes and patterns appear to gradually change in tone and depth as the angle of view or illumination changes. To create artworks in colour, underlying layers of photographic lighting gels are added so the surface colours also change with orientation and changes in light.
